Dr Katrina Morrison (BSc, PhD, FHEA) is a Lecturer in Criminology at the School of Applied Sciences, Edinburgh Napier University. She currently leads the prisons workstream in a £1 million public health-criminal justice intersection project and has secured major grants from Chief Scientist Office, Carnegie Trust, and UKRI.

Research Focus: Specializes in prison cultures, prison officer workforce dynamics, healthcare technology in prisons, and penal policy under Scottish devolution. Her work combines qualitative methods with social justice advocacy, examining:
- Prison officer professionalization
- Ex-military desistance processes
- Covid-19 impacts on prison systems
- Unionization in correctional environments
Awards:

Teaching: Module leader for Penology and Comparative Criminology courses. Developed prison-based educational programs and serves as Mobility Lead for international student exchanges. Supervises PhD students at University of Dundee and Napier.
Public Engagement: Regular media commentator (BBC, STV, Times), parliamentary evidence provider, and key organizer of criminology workshops for early career researchers. Contributes to policy development through Scottish Government committees and prison service initiatives.
