Katie Creyts is a Professor in the Department of Art & Design at Whitworth University, where she has been a faculty member since 2008. Her academic background includes an M.F.A. from Illinois State University and a B.F.A. from the Tyler School of Art. She specializes in sculpture and glass art, with a focus on mixed media and community arts initiatives. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including solo shows at the Northern State University (Aberdeen, SD) and the Saranac Art Projects (Spokane, WA).
Her research and creative practice emphasize narrative formalism and interdisciplinary approaches to art. She has been recognized with awards such as the People's Choice Award (2007) and the Whitworth Innovative Teaching Award (2011). Creyts is also active in professional organizations, serving as a board member for Artist Trust in Seattle and a member of Saranac Art Projects.
Her residencies include notable programs like Pilchuck Glass School and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She has received grants, including the McMillen Equipment Grant (2013), supporting her artistic and pedagogical work. Courses taught include advanced glass studio practices, design theory, and community arts in practice.
