Kathryn Trees is a Senior Lecturer at Murdoch University, affiliated with the College of Arts, Business, Law & Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Literature/Legal Studies from Murdoch University (1991–1998), an MCJ in Criminology from the University of Western Australia (2002–2003), and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours 1st) in English & Comparative Literature from Murdoch University (1987–1990). Her research focuses on Indigenous narratives, legal frameworks in Indigenous communities, and cultural mediation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives.
Her academic contributions include work on customary law in Roebourne and the historical interplay of Aboriginal literature with colonial narratives. She has received teaching awards for her excellence in postgraduate supervision and innovative approaches to learning and teaching in interdisciplinary fields.
