Kathryn Macintosh is a sessional trombone instructor at the University of Alberta and has also taught at The King's University in Edmonton. She holds a background in performance, previously serving as Assistant Principal Trombone with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO). Her roles extend to community engagement through initiatives like Rusty Musicians and Adopt a Player with the ESO/Winspear Centre.
Education includes studies at Acadia University and the University of Toronto. Her expertise spans Trombone Performance, Chamber Music, and Baroque Trombone. She founded the C'mon Festival in 2013 to promote classical music accessibility and co-leads the Golden Spike Concert Society's rural concert series. Notable career highlights include a sold-out production of Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale at the 2018 Edmonton Fringe Festival and an ESO performance at Carnegie Hall in 2012.
She actively mentors young musicians through ESO/YONA and contributes to arts administration as a board member of the ESO/Winspear Centre.
