Kathryn Greenman is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She holds a BA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford, an LLM in Public International Law from the University of Kent, and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam (2019). Her research focuses on the intersections of economic and humanitarian dimensions in international law, with emphasis on state responsibility, investment law, and postcolonial/critical legal approaches. She has authored a monograph on state responsibility for rebels and contributed to edited volumes on revolutionary legal legacies. Her work critiques contemporary arbitral practices in investment protection during conflicts and explores historical roots of modern international legal frameworks.
Greenman has taught at UTS, the University of Amsterdam, and Melbourne Law School, where she engaged in JD and Master's programs. She currently supervises research students and teaches courses on international law theory, legal ethics, and the Jessup Moot. Her funded research areas include legal history, international legal theory, and human rights-compatible investment agreements.
Her publications highlight critical engagements with international investment law’s role in perpetuating imperialist structures, the legal treatment of rebels in historical and modern contexts, and the interplay between revolutionary movements and legal frameworks. She has also contributed policy submissions on bilateral investment treaties and participated in editorial leadership for volumes on 1917 revolutions' legal impacts.
