Kathryn Bushley is a Courtesy Assistant Professor in the School of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University, affiliated with the Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology department. She serves as curator of the ARS Entomopathogenic Fungi Collection (ARSEF) at the USDA-ARS Emerging Pests and Pathogens Unit on Cornell's campus in Ithaca, NY. Her research focuses on fungal pathogens of invertebrates and their metabolites for biocontrol applications in agriculture and sustainable management.
- Research Areas: Microbial ecology of invasive insects, nematophagous fungi for pest control, host-microbe interactions, endophytic fungi, and fungal secondary metabolism.
- Lab Focus: Investigates how fungal metabolism influences symbiotic relationships, evolution, and ecological functions, with translational goals in sustainable agriculture, pharmaceutical discovery, and invasive pest management.
