Kathryn A. Roecklein is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. She directs the Roecklein Lab, which investigates biological, psychological, and socioenvironmental factors in mood disorders and seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Education includes a PhD from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Research focuses on three primary areas:
- Photoreception mechanisms in depression using pupillometry and genetic analysis
- Sleep interventions and circadian timing in SAD
- Biopsychosocial vulnerabilities and novel treatment strategies
Current lab initiatives examine light processing in the retina-brain pathway and predictive biomarkers for treatment response.
