Kathrin Lemme

Kathrin Lemme is a Professor of Film at the Hamburg Media School (HFBK Hamburg), leading the Master's program in Film since 2022. She holds a law degree and transitioned into film production, becoming a prominent figure in German and international documentary and feature filmmaking. Her academic work intersects media economics and film production. She has produced award-winning films such as EISENFRESSER and DIE BLUMEN VON GESTERN, which have screened at major festivals like TIFF and won prestigious awards including the GRAND PRIX in Tokyo.

Education: Juristin (law studies), Product Management at Hamburg Media School (1998–2000). Professional career includes roles at Studio Metropol Film Berlin and TFC-Trickompany, followed by independent production and co-founding Four Minutes Filmproduktion in 2013.

Research interests span documentary filmmaking, international co-productions, and the intersection of law and film. She is a member of the German and European Film Academies and serves on juries for film funding bodies.

Awards include the Gerling-Produzentenpreis (2001), Forschungspreis (2018), and multiple festival accolades. She previously served as Vice President for Communication and Profile at Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (2019–2022).
