Savvas Constantinou

Savvas Constantinou is a Lecturer in Multimedia at the School of Arts, Media & Communication, University of Central Lancashire Cyprus. He is an Oscar-qualifying filmmaker and screenwriter specializing in media production, video editing, and animation. His academic qualifications include a BA in Mass Media & Digital Communication – Film from the University of Nicosia (2021).

His research focuses on fostering creative development in Cyprus through practical filmmaking and animation. He pioneered the 48 Hour Film Challenge (2023) to cultivate local talent via self-directed projects. His filmography includes Hummings of a Hummingbird (2023, Oscar-qualifying animated short) and Font of Infamy (2020, award-winning documentary).

• Font of Infamy selected in 10+ festivals including TIFF ODA (North Macedonia) and AegeanDocs (Greece).

He has received multiple scientific awards, including Geekfest Toronto’s Best Animated Short Film (2023) and Film Olympiad’s Best Comedy (2020). Constantinou also serves as Head Film Festival Programmer for Cyprus Comic Con and Vice President of the Cyprus Animation Association, overseeing workshops and podcast production.
