Luigi Allemano is an Associate Professor at Concordia University's School of Cinema, Montreal, specializing in animation, sound design, and visual music. He combines academic leadership as head of the Film Animation Program with a prolific career as an animation filmmaker, music composer, and sound designer.
His work with the National Film Board of Canada includes five Oscar-nominated productions, notably as researcher and sound editor for Norman McLaren: Animated Musician (2014). Recent projects include creating music and sound for the Oscar-nominated The Flying Sailor (2023) and curating the ASCAP Composers Spotlight at Sundance Film Festival. His research explores intersections between animation, aleatoric music, and transdisciplinary practices.
