Kathleen Kerrigan is a Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, specializing in Educational Leadership & Policy. She serves as Deputy Director of the St Andrews Foundation for Catholic Teacher Education and is a Complaints Investigator for the School of Education. Her roles include leading the Postgraduate Certificate in Middle Leadership and Management in Schools and the MEd in Educational Leadership. Prior to joining Glasgow in 2018, she worked with the Scottish College for Educational Leadership (SCEL), contributing to leadership learning resources and professional development programs.
Her research focuses on middle leadership development, teacher professional learning, and leadership capacity in educational settings. She is currently completing a doctoral thesis exploring perspectives of middle leaders in Scottish secondary schools. Key professional activities include membership in the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS), the Scottish Professional Learning Network, and serving as a Professional Learning Ambassador for the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
Kathleen's publications and conference presentations emphasize leadership dynamics, ethical leadership challenges, and career-long professional learning strategies. She has supervised doctoral research on topics like high-performing schools in China and career and technical education in Saudi Arabia.
