Katherine Wilson is Professor of Later Medieval European History at the University of Chester, examining material culture's role in social, economic, and political contexts of 14th-15th century Europe. Her archival research reconstructs object biographies and cultural practices in Burgundian territories. She directs the Chester Festival of Ideas and leads knowledge exchange projects including VR reconstructions of medieval sites.
Teaching covers medieval history modules and work placements with heritage partners. Funded projects include AHRC grants for 'Mobility of Objects Across Boundaries' (2018-2022), producing school resources and public exhibitions like 'Medieval Chester Retold'. Current research analyzes gendered dimensions of court suppliers and craftspeople.
