Emma-Catherine Wilson is a DPhil candidate at Hertford College, University of Oxford, specializing in late medieval chivalric culture. Her thesis examines heralds' roles in English, French, and Burgundian contexts from c.1350–1550, blending manuscript studies and cultural history. Supervised by Professor Laura Ashe, her research is supported by grants from the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC DTP, Clarendon Fund, and All Souls College.
She has extensive teaching experience, including as a Lecturer in Medieval Literature at the University of Reading (2024–2025), External Tutor for Arthurian Romance courses at Worcester College (2024–2025), and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Oxford’s Faculty of English. Her research interests span heraldry, tournaments, book culture, and cultural exchange.
Her publications focus on medieval heraldic texts and their roles in cultural and literary contexts. She has been published in Medium Ævum, Notes and Queries, New Medieval Literatures, and Florilegium.
