Dr. Katherine McCormick is a Professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education at the University of Kentucky's College of Education, holding the James W. and Diane V. Stuckert Service-Learning Professorship. She joined UK in 1998 after roles at Columbus State University and experience as a classroom teacher and school psychologist in Alabama. Active in university governance, she has served on committees such as the Graduate Council, Academic Area Advisory Committee for Social Sciences, and University Appeals Board. Her state and national roles include membership on Kentucky’s Early Childhood Authority and the editorial board of the Journal of Early Intervention.
Dr. McCormick’s research focuses on early intervention, transition for children with disabilities, assessment practices, and community engagement. Her funded projects include a 7-year federal study on transitions in early childhood and evaluations of Kentucky’s primary education programs. She disseminates findings through publications and presentations.
Educational background includes a Ph.D. from Auburn University and advanced degrees in School Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her service extends to governance roles like Senate Council membership and leadership in the Georgia Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Intervention.
