Marcia L. McCormick is a Professor of Law at Saint Louis University School of Law, where she also serves as Co-Director of the William C. Wefel Center for Employment Law. She holds a secondary appointment in Women's & Gender Studies. Her academic career spans over two decades, with tenure at SLU since 2009. McCormick specializes in employment and labor law, federal courts, and gender and the law. She co-authors leading casebooks and treatises on employment discrimination and law.
Education: B.A., Grinnell College (1989); J.D., University of Iowa College of Law (1993), where she was an honors graduate and managing editor of the Iowa Law Review. Pre-academic roles included staff attorney at the International Human Rights Law Institute and Assistant Attorney General in Illinois, litigating civil appeals.
Research focuses on employment discrimination, federal court dynamics, and gender-related legal issues. Notable awards include the Eileen H. Searls Service Award (2021) and the Paul Steven Miller Memorial Award (2017). She actively contributes to legal media commentary on civil rights and employment law.
Professional service includes roles as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (2017–2020), editorships of legal journals, and leadership in academic organizations such as the American Association of Law Schools and the Southeastern Association of Law Schools. McCormick’s interdisciplinary work bridges law, gender studies, and public policy.
