Katherine Adams Guthrie

Katherine Adams Guthrie, PhD, is a Professor in the Biostatistics Program & Cancer Prevention Program at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Public Health Sciences Division. She specializes in clinical trials methodology for cancer, menopause, and autoimmune disease research.

Education:

• PhD in Biostatistics from University of Washington (2001)
• MS in Biostatistics from University of Washington (1997)
• BS in Mathematics from Bates College (1989, cum laude)

Her research focuses on biostatistical methods for cancer clinical trials, menopause symptom treatment, and microchimerism effects in autoimmune diseases and cancer. She leads SWOG Cancer Research Network trials in hematopoietic cell transplantation and serves as Principal Investigator for MsFLASH (Menopausal Strategies: Finding Lasting Answers for Symptoms and Health).

Recent work trends show emphasis on telephone-based interventions for menopause, immune recognition analysis, and multi-arm clinical trial design. She has contributed to understanding pregnancy outcomes and long-term health effects from microchimerism.
