Katharina Flunger-Lang is a Lecturer and Research Associate at the Department of Social Work, Management Center Innsbruck (MCI), within The Entrepreneurial School. Her academic career spans over a decade, including doctoral studies in Educational Science at the University of Innsbruck (2019-2025). She specializes in migration policy, human rights, and postcolonial approaches to social work, particularly focusing on culturally sensitive interventions with marginalized groups such as refugees and asylum seekers.
Her educational background includes a Master's in Gender, Culture, and Social Change (University of Innsbruck, 2010-2018) and a Mag.a FH in Social Work (Management Center Innsbruck, 2006-2010). She has taught courses on migration policy, human rights advocacy, and social work methodologies, including 'Social and Migration Policy II' and 'Theories of Social Work II.'
Research interests include decolonizing social work curricula, intersectional approaches to refugee integration, and ethical practice in contexts of structural inequality. She has conducted evaluations of integration programs and funding systems, advocating for evidence-based policy improvements.
Katharina has received awards for her courageous initiatives, including the Eduard Wallnöfer Recognition Award (2012) for establishing legal aid services for refugees. She actively contributes to professional associations like the Austrian Society for Social Work (OGSA) and serves on the Board of the Asylum Platform FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.
