Katelyn Larson is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at the University of St. Thomas and a full-time Choir Director at Stillwater Area High School. She teaches vocal pedagogy at the collegiate level and directs advanced treble choirs, chamber ensembles, and the spring musical at Stillwater. Her expertise spans vocal music education, vocal pedagogy, and choral techniques. She holds a BM in Music Education from St. Olaf College (2011) and an MA in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas (2018).
Ms. Larson has extensive experience teaching at middle, high school, and university levels, alongside private voice instruction. She has directed choirs selected for performances at the MN ACDA Fall Conference and St. Olaf Choral Festival. She actively serves as an MSHSL contest judge, voice clinician, and section coach for MN All-State Choirs. Her 2020 award as Minnesota’s Outstanding Young Choral Director underscores her contributions to music education.
Her research emphasizes contemplative pedagogy in choral classrooms, focusing on vocal health and teaching methodologies. She teaches courses like GMUS 676-01 Voice Fundamentals, addressing adolescent vocal techniques and pedagogical approaches. She has also served as interim adult choir director at Colonial Church (Edina) and previously taught at St. Francis High School and Middle School.
