Katelyn K Foley serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences within the College of Science, Technology, and Health at the University of Southern Maine, based at 214 Field House on the Gorham campus (contact: katelyn.foley@maine.edu).
Her academic credentials include a BS in Applied Exercise Science from the University of New England, an MS in Exercise Physiology from Barry University, and an ongoing EdD in Kinesiology at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
Dr. Foley's research centers on Curriculum Design within Exercise Science, Sociology of Exercise participation, Flexibility analysis for athletes versus recreational populations, and Exercise interventions for elderly populations. She champions technology-integrated, interactive pedagogy to accommodate diverse learning styles in evolving higher education landscapes.
Her scholarly output features ACSM conference presentations examining biomechanical differences in hip flexibility among swimmers and gender-based strength performance metrics, advancing knowledge in sports physiology and rehabilitation applications.
Professionally, she maintains active memberships in the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Clinical Exercise Physiology Association (CEPA), and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), where she holds distinguished NSCA-CPT*D certification.
Her industry experience includes designing fitness programs and a 4,000 sq ft pavilion at a high-end retirement community, plus adjunct instruction in Health Sciences and Cardiovascular Technology at Southern Maine Community College.
