Professor Kate White holds a prominent academic role in Cancer Nursing at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Cancer Nursing Research Unit (CNRU). Her work focuses on supportive care in cancer and palliative care, psychosocial issues, and translating research into clinical practice. She has conducted studies on rural health and serves on various national/international committees. Her Churchill Fellowship (2011) supported research at the Royal Marsden Hospital's nurse-led clinic for sexual dysfunction in cancer patients.
Her research spans over 170 publications, emphasizing patient outcomes, clinical guidelines, and innovative care models. She supervises over 20 research students, many of whom have won prestigious awards. Current students include Elisha McLaren (endometrial cancer health promotion) and Jennie King (hypoglycaemia in diabetes patients).
Prof. White chairs several key committees, including the Cancer Institute NSW's Psychosocial and Supportive Care Working Group, and serves on editorial boards for journals like Cancer Nursing and European Journal of Oncology Nursing. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, advocating for nurse-led care and patient-centered approaches.
