Dr. Kate Saxton is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Human Services at the University of Southern Queensland's School of Psychology and Wellbeing, based at the Ipswich campus. She holds a BSocWk(Hons) and MSocSc from RMIT University, and a PhD from Western Sydney University. With 14 years of teaching experience, she currently instructs courses SWM5001 and SWM5002.
Her research integrates critical social work, decolonisation methodologies, and Pacific community engagement, employing participatory action research, auto-ethnography, and discourse analysis. She focuses on social justice, gender-based violence, and ecological sustainability through intersectional feminist frameworks.
Publications emphasize social work pedagogy, Pacific Indigenous paradigms, and health equity, demonstrating consistent themes of decolonising methodologies and community-centered solutions across education, mental health, and criminal justice contexts.
