Dr. Kate Patterson serves as Visiting Instructor in Public Health and Wellness at the University of Portland (2025), with adjunct faculty appointments at OHSU-PSU School of Public Health and National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) where she has held core faculty status since 2011. Her research integrates clinical medicine with public health through trauma-informed care frameworks, emphasizing health equity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and holistic approaches to social determinants of health. Key focus areas include nutritional equity, integrated care models, and trauma-responsive systems for marginalized populations, particularly through her advocacy work with survivors of gender-based violence.
Dr. Patterson mentors students and residents in clinical/academic settings while leading faculty senate, curriculum review, and community engagement initiatives connecting students with local health equity partners. As a trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Victim Advocate, and Title IX Campus Advocate, she provides forensic training and trauma-informed healthcare services across Portland community clinics.
