Associate Professor Kate Mulgrew is an academic and leader in research and education at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC). She holds a PhD and BPsyc(Hons) from Queensland University of Technology. As Dean of Graduate Research and Researcher Development, she oversees the Graduate Research School, focusing on enhancing researcher development, HDR policies, and industry engagement. Her academic roles have included Deputy Head (Research) in the School of Health and Behavioural Sciences and Acting Head of School. Her research interests span cognitive psychology (biased attention/memory), health psychology (body image, chronic pain), and climate change in the Pacific. She has received awards for teaching excellence, including the USC Advance Awards in 2015 and 2016. Her work integrates psychological theory with practical interventions to address media effects, body image, and mental health. She supervises research projects on topics like media influence on body image and yoga's role in health.
