Kate Moncrieff is a Lecturer in Education (Health and Physical Education) at Deakin University's School of Education within the Faculty of Arts and Education. She serves as Course Director for the E377 Bachelor of Health and Physical Education program and teaches across both the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Primary) degrees.
Her research interests focus on student engagement, student transition, student voice, and student-centered approaches to teaching health and physical education. She has developed expertise in models for teaching physical education and program planning for engagement, with particular attention to transition programs for first and fourth year students.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong research trajectory in aquatic competence development in children, active pedagogical strategies in teacher education, and transition pedagogy for pre-service teachers. Her work shows an interdisciplinary approach combining education, public health, and child development perspectives.

Moncrieff has been principal investigator or team member on multiple significant research grants including the Graduate Teacher Professional Learning Program (2024-2025), Review and redevelopment of Health and Physical Education Curriculum (2023), and the Swim Lesson Models: Effectiveness and Impact Study (2016-2018). She has supervised research projects including 'A review of engagement in a SEL curriculum and transfer of skills learnt' (2023-2024).
