Kate Manlik is a PhD candidate in Cultural Studies at Macquarie University, affiliated with the School of Communication, Society and Culture and the Faculty of Arts. She holds Professional Casual and Academic Casual roles across multiple academic units, including the School of International Studies. Her research focuses on lesbian and queer women’s experiences in the Australian HIV landscape, and she collaborates on projects analyzing student well-being during the pandemic. She has tutored undergraduate courses in Social Science, Media Studies, and Cultural Studies since 2019.
Education: Completed a Bachelor of Social Science and Master of Research at Macquarie University.
Research interests span AIDS/HIV activism, queer health narratives, gender and sexuality inclusion in education, and methodological approaches in cultural studies. Recent work includes auditing education policies on gender diversity and exploring disorientation in narrative research. She is an investigator on an active project addressing child safety protocols in universities (2024–2025).
Publications emphasize interdisciplinary analysis, with contributions to a/b: Auto/Biography Studies, Sex Education, and Signs. Her work bridges cultural critique, policy analysis, and health advocacy.
