Kate Douglas is a Professor of English at Flinders University, specializing in Life Narrative Studies. Her research explores how individuals document life stories through literature and media, focusing on childhood, trauma, and memory. She co-authored key works like Contesting Childhood and Life Narratives and Youth Cultures, and co-edited volumes on trauma and auto/biography. Douglas leads the Life Narrative Research Group at Flinders and chairs the Asia-Pacific chapter of the International Auto/Biography Association (IABA).
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Queensland and has received numerous awards, including the Australian Association for University Teachers Citation (2019) and multiple teaching excellence recognitions. As an advocate for research-led teaching, she co-led the OLT-funded 'Building Reading Resilience' project. Her professional roles include Head of the Department of English (2008–2010) and Research Section Head for Languages, Literatures, and Culture.
