Kate Kanne is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College Dublin's School of Archaeology, with an honorary position at University of Exeter. She holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University and specializes in anthropological archaeology examining human-animal-environment relationships, particularly equestrianism in European Bronze Age contexts.
Her research integrates zooarchaeology, stable isotope analysis, and landscape archaeology to investigate how domesticated animals shaped sociopolitical structures. Current projects include analysis of animal bones from Irish cave sites and co-direction of excavations in Palawan Island, Philippines.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovation in combining biomolecular approaches with traditional archaeology. Studies focus on equestrian mobility patterns, pastoral commons development, and political dimensions of horse domestication across Eurasia.
