Dr. Kate Glyn-Owen is an Associate Professor in Public Health at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Department of Public Health. She is a member of the Population Health Sciences research group and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration Wessex. Her work focuses on health inequalities, chronic liver disease, and under-served populations, particularly in coastal communities. Dr. Glyn-Owen holds advanced qualifications including a Doctor of Medicine (DM), Master of Public Health (MFPH), and Master of Science in Public Health (MPH).
Her research explores the intersection of chronic diseases with social determinants, including studies on liver fibrosis and heart failure correlations, early detection pathways for liver disease, and pandemic response strategies. Recent publications highlight community engagement in health testing and the combined impact of alcohol and BMI on liver disease risk. She supervises PhD student Clare Louise Phillips and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on initiatives like the NIHR Liver Disease Research Partnerships.
