Kate Dewally is an Associate Tutor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the Environmental Social Sciences research group. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and an MSci in Bioveterinary Science from Harper Adams University (2017–2022). Her research focuses on translating scientific insights into agri-environmental policy, particularly exploring ecosystem service markets and sustainable land use practices in the UK.

Research Interests:
She investigates how emerging markets for ecosystem services can benefit nature and society, focusing on carbon credits, biodiversity credits, and habitat restoration. Her work combines GIS, qualitative analysis, and statistical methods to address gaps such as effective biodiversity baselining and monetizing farm management options. She collaborates with the Wendling Beck Environment Project, engaging landowners, conservation charities (e.g., The Nature Conservancy), and industry partners like Anglian Water.
Publications:
Her 2025 article in the Journal of Rural Studies examines perceptions of new UK Environmental Land Management Schemes and private nature markets.
Funding:
Her PhD is funded by UEA’s School of Environmental Sciences, and she is an associate member of ARIES (Agricultural, Rural, and Environmental Sciences group).
