Dr. Katarzyna Kowal is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Ramapo College of New Jersey, affiliated with the School of Theoretical and Applied Science (TAS). She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Lehigh University (2004), preceded by an M.S. and B.A. from Lehigh University and The College of New Jersey, respectively. Her research focuses on Algebraic Topology, Homotopy Theory, Combinatorics, Probability and Statistics, and Mathematics Education.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Elementary Probability and Statistics, Calculus I, Multivariable Calculus, Discrete Structures, Linear Algebra, Combinatorics and Graph Theory, Cryptology, and Abstract Algebra. She has been at Ramapo College since 2004.
Dr. Kowal co-directs the New Jersey Undergraduate Mathematics Competition (NJUMC) and serves as advisor to the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society chapter at Ramapo. She is also involved in organizing student research events and community service initiatives, including mentoring high school students and leading math club activities.
