Katarzyna Jakubiak is a Lecturer in the Department of English & World Languages at Millersville University, part of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a M.A. in English Philology from Jagiellonian University (1997), another M.A. in English from the University of Northern Iowa (1999), and a Ph.D. in English Studies from Illinois State University (2006).
Her research focuses on translation studies with emphasis on political dimensions, African diaspora literatures, and critical theory. She explores themes such as race in international theatrical translations, contemporary global literatures, and creative writing practices. Courses taught include English Composition, African American Literature, British Literature since 1914, and Technical Writing.
Her scholarly contributions span analyses of Langston Hughes, Lorraine Hansberry, Zadie Smith, and Czesław Miłosz. Publications address topics like cultural reception of African American drama in Poland, postcolonial marketing of contemporary British fiction, and cognitive dimensions of literary translation.
Jakubiak’s work bridges literary theory and pedagogy, emphasizing international perspectives. She is passionate about creative writing, travel, and raising her children. Office hours for Spring 2025 are listed with availability, though she was on sabbatical during Fall 2021.
