Dr. Caleb Corkery is a Professor in the Department of English & World Languages at Millersville University. He holds a B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.F.A. and M.A. from the University of Maryland College Park, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland College Park. His research focuses on literacy narratives, multicultural literacy issues, African American literature, and writing pedagogy. He actively advises the English Club and contributes to the African American Studies program.
His specializations include examining communicative role models in literacy development, rhetorical traditions in African American literature, and innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching multicultural texts. His publications explore intersections between literature, race, and education, with notable works analyzing Amiri Baraka’s Dutchman, Richard Wright’s Native Son, and West African oratory traditions.
Corkery teaches courses such as African American Literature I & II, Hip Hop Culture, Technical Writing, and Drama. His work emphasizes critical engagement with race, identity, and cultural narratives in literary and pedagogical contexts. Beyond academia, he enjoys theater, basketball, biking, and ultimate frisbee.
