Kataryna WOLCZUK is a Senior Professorial Fellow at the European Neighbourhood Chair and a Visiting Professor in the Department of European Interdisciplinary Studies at the College of Europe’s Natolin Campus. She holds a full Professorship in Politics at the University of Birmingham, UK, and is an Associate Fellow at Chatham House’s Russia and Eurasian Programme. Her expertise spans EU-Eastern neighbourhood relations, post-Soviet state dynamics, and Russian foreign policy. She earned an MA in Law from the University of Gdańsk (Poland), followed by an MSc and PhD from the University of Birmingham (UK).
Her research focuses on domestic politics and European integration in Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia, alongside EU institutional effectiveness in contested regions. She has held prestigious fellowships, including a Jean Monnet Fellowship at the European University Institute, and has contributed to European Parliament publications. Notable works include Ukraine between the EU and Russia: The Integration Challenge (2015) and co-editing The Ukraine Conflict: Security, Identity and Politics in the Wider Europe (2017).
Her academic network includes visiting roles at the University of Lucerne and Free University Berlin. Her work bridges academic research with policy impact, addressing geopolitical challenges in Eurasia and the EU’s evolving role in post-Soviet spaces.
