Karoline Daugstad is a Professor in Social Geography at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), specializing in landscape geography. She currently serves as Director of NTNU's Strategic Research Area 'Community' until 2031. Her research focuses on landscape policies, natural resource management, cultural heritage, mountain farming, and agriculture's role in climate change resilience. She has conducted studies in Norway, Austria, northern Spain, and collaborates with Danish researchers on climate-smart agriculture. She has held leadership roles as Department Head and Vice-Dean for Research at NTNU.
Her work bridges academia and practice, addressing challenges in rural development, heritage preservation, and sustainable tourism. Notable projects include the Mimisbrunnr Climate Park initiative, which integrates climate education with cultural heritage and tourism. She has also explored governance frameworks for mountain grasslands and the socio-cultural dimensions of national park management.
