Frode Flemsæter

Frode Flemsæter is a Professor at the Department of Geography and Social Anthropology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His research focuses on rural and regional geography, emphasizing landscape management, land use conflicts, and the intersection of cultural and natural resource valuation. He holds a doctoral degree (2009) from NTNU's Department of Geography. His work explores spatial justice, property rights, and environmental governance in contested landscapes such as mountains and outfields (utmark).

Key research areas include: land use planning, cultural resource management, and the socio-ecological implications of resource revaluation. He has authored/co-authored books like Utmark i endring (2021) and contributed to high-impact journals such as Journal of Rural Studies and Geoforum. Recent projects include studies on cumulative social effects in outfield management and VR integration in educational practices.
