Karolina Doughty

Dr. Karolina Doughty is an Assistant Professor and PhD Coordinator in the Cultural Geography group at Wageningen University & Research. Her work focuses on the intersections of place, wellbeing, and soundscapes, employing qualitative and ethnographic methods. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Southampton, UK.

Key research interests include therapeutic landscapes, geographies of sound, and everyday mobilities. She coordinates PhD supervision for students researching urban green spaces, music-place relations, and community wellbeing. Notable projects include the GreeNexUS urban scenario initiative and studies on therapeutic landscapes beyond seasonal tourism.

She serves on the editorial board of Emotion, Space and Society and has advised on projects funded by the UK National Institute for Health Research and Research Councils UK. Her work explores how sonic practices and natural environments contribute to wellbeing, with a focus on marginalized populations and neoliberal health policies.
