Dr. Jordan Lacey is a Senior Lecturer in RMIT University’s Industrial Design program, specializing in artistic research, soundscape design, and applied philosophy. He holds former fellowships as an Australian Research Council (DECRA) Fellow and Vice-Chancellor's Post-doctoral Fellow. His research focuses on urban soundscape design, public sound installations, and interdisciplinary collaborations between sound designers, landscape architects, and urban planners. Key projects include the Sonic Gathering Place, a world-first biophilic soundscape installation, and publications like Urban Roar and Sonic Rupture. He actively engages with industry partners like Transurban and Melbourne Council to integrate sound design into urban environments.
His research interests span Design Practice, Visual Arts, Architecture, Urban Planning, and Built Environment innovation. He advises on PhD topics such as biophilic soundwalls, creative communities, and affective environments. Collaborations include editorial roles with the Journal of Sonic Studies and creative works exhibited globally. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health) and 11 (Sustainable Cities).
