Dr. Karla Seaman is an Honorary Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), specializing in aged care and health services research. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) and has expertise in linked administrative data, mixed methods, and translational research. Her primary focus is on aged care, medication utilization, and policy, particularly addressing dementia, acquired brain injury, and consumer involvement in care.
Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Clinical Epidemiology, Doctorate of Philosophy.
Research Interests: Aged care quality improvement, falls prevention in residential care, medication management in elderly populations, and health policy evaluation. She has led projects leveraging informatics to optimize pharmacist-led interventions and developed predictive dashboards for falls prevention using user-centered design. Her work emphasizes translating research into practice through collaboration with stakeholders and health systems.
