Dr Joyce Siette is an Honorary Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), affiliated with the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research. Her work focuses on dementia prevention, improving quality of life for individuals with dementia, and successful ageing in cognitive adversity. She holds a PhD in Psychology from The University of New South Wales (2012), specializing in stem cell therapy and exercise for age-related memory decline.
Research Interests: Combines neuropsychology and informatics to enhance care for older adults in residential and community settings. Current projects include identifying social factors delaying dementia, sensor-based technology in aged care, and the Brain Bootcamp initiative to raise dementia risk awareness. She has translated research into policy, integrating quality-of-life tools into aged care processes.
Grants & Projects: Led projects on social networks in residential aged care (2018–2019), wearable tech for social interaction tracking (iConnect, 2019–2020), and lifestyle modification programs (2020). Collaborations include work on systematic reviews of physical activity barriers in dementia care (2024).
Awards: Recognized with AIHI Researcher of the Year (2018), BUPA Commendation (2020), and ABCAM Finalist (2013). Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in aging and healthcare innovation.
