معرفی
Dr. Karla Neves is an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health and a Research Associate at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, University of Glasgow. She holds a PhD from the University of São Paulo-USP, Brazil, with training at the British Heart Foundation (BHF) under Prof. Rhian Touyz. Her research focuses on vascular mechanisms of cardiovascular toxicities caused by VEGF inhibitors, CADASIL pathophysiology, and redox signaling in hypertension.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Nursing (Federal University of Mato Grosso, 2009)
- Master's in Sciences (University of São Paulo-USP, 2012)
- Doctorate in Sciences (University of São Paulo-USP, completed during her training at the University of Glasgow)
Research Interests:
Dr. Neves investigates vascular dysfunction caused by VEGF inhibitors, focusing on microparticles, NAD(P)H oxidases, and antioxidant systems. She also explores Notch3 mutations in CADASIL, linking ER stress and oxidative pathways. Her work integrates molecular mechanisms with translational insights into cardiovascular diseases and drug toxicities.
Publications:
Her recent work highlights exosome roles in cardiovascular health, SARS-CoV-2's endothelial effects, and novel therapeutic targets for post-COVID-19 conditions. She has contributed over 40 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing redox signaling in hypertension and vascular biology.
Grants & Awards:
No awards explicitly mentioned, though her research aligns with BHF and institutional funding priorities.
Labs & Collaborations:
Primarily works in Prof. Rhian Touyz's lab, focusing on vascular signaling and clinical translation.
