Karla Holmboe is a Visiting MRC Career Development Fellow at the University of Oxford's Department of Experimental Psychology. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Copenhagen, an MSc in Cognitive Neuropsychology from University College London, and a PhD in Psychology from Birkbeck College. Her research focuses on developmental cognitive neuroscience, particularly attention and executive function development in infancy and early childhood. She employs longitudinal studies and neuroimaging techniques to investigate how early attentional and social skills predict later cognitive and social outcomes.
Key funding sources include the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), British Academy, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Autism Speaks. Collaborations include work with Dr. Silvia Rigato (University of Essex) on infant developmental trajectories and Dr. Alexandra Hendry on executive function studies.
Her articles explore topics like dopamine genetics influencing infant attention, neural correlates of inhibitory control, and the longitudinal development of cognitive skills. Awards include the prestigious MRC Career Development Award (2016).
