Prof. Karina Meijer is a Professor and Head of the Division of Haemostasis and Thrombosis at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen. She holds leadership roles in organizations such as the Dutch Society for Hematology and the Transmuraal Trombose Expertise Centrum Noord Nederland. Her expertise spans coagulation disorders, haemophilia treatment, and venous thromboembolism. She qualified as an MD at Groningen University (1970) and earned her PhD in 2002, focusing on liver disease in coagulation disorder patients. Her research emphasizes anticoagulation quality and reversal strategies, with a focus on direct oral anticoagulants and thrombosis prophylaxis. She has published extensively in journals like Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, contributing to clinical guidelines and therapeutic advancements. Her work bridges translational and clinical research, addressing gaps in rare bleeding disorders and gene therapy implications.
