Karin Emtell Iwarsson

Karin Emtell Iwarsson is a Research Midwife and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with the Department of Women's and Children's Health and Kristina Gemzell Danielsson's research group in reproductive health. Her work focuses on contraceptive counseling, reproductive justice, and migrant women's health.

• Education: Doctoral degree in 2022, Midwifery degree in 2004 from Karolinska Institutet

Research Interests: Structured contraceptive counseling, long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), health equity for migrant populations, clinical trials, and implementation science. She specializes in cluster randomized trials and quality improvement initiatives.

Publications: Her recent work examines contraceptive compliance in young women, access disparities for migrant populations, and device innovations in subdermal implant removal. Studies are published in Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, BMC Public Health, and Human Reproduction.

Labs & Teams: Member of Kristina Gemzell Danielsson's research group, contributing to the LOWE trial and the IMPROVE it initiative for postpartum contraceptive services.
