Kari Cowden is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU) within the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. She holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from CSU (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Wyoming (2003). Her research focuses on biomaterials, stem cell interactions, and materials science. She has been recognized with multiple Master Teacher nominations at Front Range Community College (FRCC).

Her research explores stem cell interactions with biomaterials, particularly titania nanotube surfaces, and their applications in regenerative medicine.

Advising & Leadership: As an advisor for CSU’s University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) Rocket Team and USDA Bait Dispenser Senior Design Team, she mentors undergraduate projects. She also mentored new instructors at FRCC and contributed to hiring committees at CSU.
