Dr. Kirk McGilvray is an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU), affiliated with the School of Biomedical Engineering. He serves as the Associate Director of the Orthopaedic Bioengineering Research Laboratory (OBR Lab) and Associate Department Head for Graduate Programs. His work focuses on translating regenerative medicine and orthopaedic technologies from the lab to clinical practice, emphasizing biomechanical-biological interactions in musculoskeletal systems.
Education: Ph.D. (2009), M.S. (2005), and B.S. (2004) in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from CSU. Key research areas include fracture healing prediction, rotator cuff repair, biomaterial assessment, and translational medicine. He leads the Translational Medicine Institute’s core faculty and collaborates on preclinical model development.
