Karen Morash is the Programme Director for the online BA Theatre Studies at Rose Bruford College, where she also teaches and supervises independent research projects. She holds a PhD from Goldsmiths (2018) focused on collaborative devising processes, alongside an MA in Text and Performance (RADA/King’s College London), PGCE (University of Cambridge), and a BA in English and History (University of King’s College). Her work spans academic research, theatre production, and poetry.
As a founding member of Head for Heights Theatre Company, she specializes in producing translated works from South America using collaborative processes. She also serves on Zuppa Theatre Company’s Board and has directed/experimented with experiential translation projects like Another Time This Time (AHRC-funded).
Her research interests include playwriting pedagogy, feminist theatre, neurodivergent teaching methods, and late 20th-/21st-century British drama. She has published widely in journals like NTQ, Critical Stages, and BST, with upcoming book chapters on dramaturgy in translation and Bryony Lavery’s work.
Karen’s creative output includes award-winning poetry featured in Raceme, Apex Poetry, and the Live Canon Anthologies. She is an enthusiastic mentor for PhD candidates in playwriting, devising practices, and feminist theatre studies.
