Karen Dunn Lopez is a Professor and Director of the Center for Nursing Classification and Clinical Effectiveness at the University of Iowa. She holds a BSN from the University of Pennsylvania, MPH in Health Services from Boston University, PhD in Nursing Science from University of Iowa, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research program focuses on enhancing clinical decision-making through nursing informatics and health technology innovations.
Research Interests: Dr. Dunn Lopez specializes in usability optimization of health information systems, clinical decision support design, and implementation of standardized nursing terminologies (NANDA-I, NIC, NOC) for knowledge generation.
