She investigates how structural and interpersonal bias influence clinical decision-making and maternal outcomes, particularly among vulnerable populations. Her work integrates community-based participatory methods and systems biology approaches to address root causes of maternal morbidity and mortality.
Her recent publications highlight trends in racial disparities in cesarean birth, the development of digital interventions like MAMA LOVE to improve maternal outcomes, and consensus-building for maternal health equity in Georgia. She also explores the biological mechanisms linking discrimination, inflammation, and poor sleep to adverse maternal and child health outcomes. Her research bridges clinical practice, public health, and bioethics.
