Dr. Karen Devine is an Assistant Professor in Politics at Dublin City University's School of Law and Government. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin, an MA in European Integration from the University of Limerick, a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics from Trinity College, and a BA in Politics and Spanish from University College Dublin. Her academic appointments include prior teaching roles at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Aberdeen.
Her research explores the intersection of public opinion, foreign policy, and neutrality in Ireland, the EU, and the USA. Key areas include:
- European Union Common Security and Defence Policy evolution
- Critical social constructivist and poststructuralist feminist IR theories
- Epistemethodological pluralism in research design
- Gendered violence in domestic/international contexts
Analysis of her publications reveals strong thematic coherence around neutrality studies, EU security integration, and methodological innovation in political science. Her work consistently employs comparative frameworks and critical theory lenses to dissect policy narratives.
