Dr Dervila Cooke is a Lecturer in French at Dublin City University (DCU), affiliated with the School of Applied Language & Intercultural Studies (SALIS). She previously held academic roles at Oxford Brookes University, Saint Patrick's College (now DCU), Trinity College Dublin, and other institutions. Her research focuses on contemporary French-speaking cultures, particularly Québec, with emphases on life-writing, migration narratives, urban studies, ecocriticism, and photography's intersections with text and film.
Education:
- B.A. French (University College Dublin), with Erasmus studies in Caen
- Doctorate in French Literature (École normale supérieure, Paris)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching (Oxford Brookes University)

- Ecocritical approaches to literature and environmental activism
